This was us waiting to tie down the car, and then it started hailing. We waited in that stupid, dusty shipping container for just under an hour before we could continue. But we finally got it loaded up, locked down, and ready to go.
I lost the tarp on Route 83, and the construction buoy things from the torn up road were blown everywhere (slaloms with a trailer are not as fun as they sound). Hit a bit of a break after the first wave/front, so we hopped on 355 and finished the rest of the trip without further incident. Finally get home and go to unload, and the second wave/front was just WAITING for us to step out of the car. We got it unstrapped and rolled in to where it sits now, ready to be worked.
We have a PILE (literally, it looks like a stacked pallet, 4'lx4w'x8'h of engine parts, transmissions, and other functional parts) of stuff to install. Now the problem is splitting time between the '66 and the '70.
But I'll probably be busy until finals are over, but after that THE FUN BEGINS.
I'm also trying Google+ again since it's mandatory with youtube accounts. Add me and share your Oppo circle you crazy wonderful people you! :D

As always I expected this story to be in some far away state, and then I started recognizing the roads you mentioned. A Grabber Blue Mach 1 in CHICAGOLAND?!?!! These things don't happen around here!
Also, you picked one hell of a day to transport a car.

Just bought a never-been-run-in-30-years 1969 302 from a guy. I need to rebuild it, but engine work on the stand is my favorite, so I don't mind. VIN says it originally came with a 302, and I intend to keep it that way. It was a manual car, but the pedal assembly was ripped out when it became a drag car, so I'm just dropping an FMX in there (trying to get it going first before worrying about fancy stuff like overdrive, plus FMXs are, like, $75 bucks around here). It's got an 8 point cage that I have to cut out (the welds don't look that great, and it blocks installation of the interior and gas tank), as well as crossbars that were welded on that travel the width of the grill. 9" rear end, and I picked up a 3.50 open diff to stuff the carrier with.
Anything else? :)

Just because I'm a pain in the ass and I can ALWAYS find something else to ask about a 302!
Carb/intake set up? Hahahaha.
I have a 68 Montego with a 302 that I just upgraded to a holley 4 barrel, edelbrock performer RPM intake and dual flowmaster super 44s (which sounds phenomenal if you want a video/audio clip for your future exhaust shopping). I have the very standard C4 column shift in my Montego though.
Love the look of it, and glad to see another classic 5.0 on here!

Are you around here too? :D
It isn't a true Mach 1 (the interior clock is *GASP*
square
), someone in the past just installed the grille with the sportlamps. I kinda like them, so I'm thinking of leaving them there.
It was so nice in the morning when we left at 8AM, but noooooooooooo. Had to wait for the truck with the hitch to be dropped off at about 10:45, which then proceeded to turn into a hell-with-a-lot-more-wind-and-water day.

The engine isn't near finished, So there currently isn't a carb, but I'm staring at a Holley 650 and an Autolite 4100 across from my desk. The engine had a 2-barrel I believe, so a new intake is on the short list of parts we still need. The exhaust will be a stock one, actually, from another 1970.
I love seeing pictures of your car! I hope that wheel dilemma gets decided (my vote is against steelies >:| ).

hahahaha, I'd love to do Mag 500s.
I only have a 400 cfm (maybe 390? can't remember got it used lol) on mine. I've had one mechanic tell me I should have gone over 550 maybe even up to a 650, my dad who has built some great cars - including a sub 12 second Ford Torino with a 351 Cleveland, that he only ran I believe in the 550-600 cfm range (he is also a mechanic, and 20 + years as ASE Master Tech, among others). He took off the 750 he had due to too much fuel. He thought that 400 cfm was even too much. I thought that was crazy lol. It's been running crazy strong, and honestly could still use some tuning to the carb and timing. If you aren't upgrading heads/valves I wouldn't go too high on the CFM.

Yessir, been living here all my life and no plans to move. It's pretty unnerving driving back in this sort of weather with a new car. I was actually driving my car back from Connecticut after I had just signed the papers, and then came a Nor'easter. It also had crappy tires.
